Getting involved with Speak the Name is as easy as it is rewarding. STAND Canada will endorse and actively promote candidates who ‘speak the name’ by making a meaningful commitment to the prevention of genocide and other mass atrocity crimes. Meaningful commitments should be understood as subscribing to one of STAND Canada’s four policy recommendations. Endorsing our policy recommendations should be done in writing.

Support of Candidates who Speak The Name:

STAND Canada will promote candidates that ‘speak the name’ in a number of ways at both the national and regional levels. At the national level, Stand will work to promote Speak the Name candidates by issuing press releases whenever a candidate provides meaningful support to Speak the Name; posting candidates’ names, credentials, bios to a portion of the as yet undeveloped Speak the Name website; taking advantage of our national mailing list by sending Speak the Name updates and promoting candidates that support Speak the Name; publishing candidates’ names, credentials, bios in the Stand Digest; featuring them in the articles of the communication’s teams’ editorials/letter to the editors; and promoting candidates to other NGOs using our existing relationships and resources.

At the chapter level, STAND Canada’s representatives will promote candidates by designing posters/pamphlets about a given candidate and distribute them around campus and constituencies; posting, where possible, candidate credentials and information on local chapter websites; publicizing local candidates using their own internal mailing lists; organizing lectures, talks, panels, open forums about genocide prevention, human rights, etc. and invite candidates that meaningfully support our campaign to speak/present; volunteering for candidates that meaningfully support our campaign. Please note, that STAND’s agency varies across the country and our capacity for our chapters to do these activities may vary.
